Dental Implants

It’s essential that patients replace missing teeth. Whether they’re missing a single tooth or a full row of teeth, replacement is essential to ensure patients maintain their optimal level of oral health. Traditional tooth replacement solutions like dental crowns or dentures restore those parts of the teeth that are visible above the gum line, but without the supportive root structures, these tooth replacement solutions only replace half the tooth. Dental implants give us the ability to restore both the roots and crowns of missing teeth. Crafted from high quality titanium, dental implant posts fuse with gum tissue and jawbones mimicking the natural function of roots. At Landmark Dental, we’re happy to offer the full dental implant supported tooth replacement process in our Norwood, MA dental office. If you’re missing one or more teeth, call our office to schedule a dental implant consultation.

Dental Implant Placement

The first phase of dental implant tooth replacement is the surgical placement of dental implant posts below the gum line. The procedure is simple. We make a small incision in the gums. Then, we insert the dental implant post into the jawbone. Finally, we attach a protective cap that will allow the gums to heal around the implant post. For three to six months, you’ll need to let the implant post fuse with the jaw before attaching the restoration.

Dental Implant Supported Restorations

Once your dental implant has fused with the jawbone, you’ll return to our office, so we can attach your dental restoration. A single crown can be attached to a dental implant post, or a fixed bridge can be attached to two dental implants to replace several consecutive teeth. If you’ve experienced more advanced tooth loss, we may need to place between four and six dental implant posts to support a partial or full denture.

TRANSFORMING LIFE-CHANGING RESULTS

Dr. Livshin’s extensive training and expertise in general dentistry, including implants and oral surgery gives him a unique opportunity to treat patients in his office without frequent referrals. This saves patients a significant amount of time and expense and becomes even more important when many procedures are performed at one time with the use of conscious sedation or intravenous general anesthesia. Dr. Livshin’s patients are happier and more comfortable seeing the same doctor take care of most of their dental needs and sedation options are a critical component in returning fearful patients to good oral health.
